Thelma Arlene Irwin (Nelson)Died March 31, 2024 in Palmdale, California at the age of 94 surrounded by his loving family. Thelma was born on January 21, 1930 in Kansas City, Kansas to Nels Peter and Pearl Nelson. As a teenager, he moved to Bishop, California in 1946 and graduated from Bishop Union High School in 1948, where he was valedictorian of his class.

In 1956 Thelma married Jim Irwin and they moved to Lancaster California in 1960. Thelma worked for Sears for many years. He was very active in the Assembly of God. Thelmas’ joys in life were spending time with her grandchildren and family, hunting, fishing, camping, cooking, baking, sewing and singing in her church choir.

She will be greatly missed and lovingly remembered by her children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, great-great-grandchildren, and many friends and neighbors.

Thelma is survived by her children Cheryl Underhill and husband John Bishop of California, son Robert Irwin and wife Roxanne Lancaster of California, stepdaughter Irene Ennis and husband Patrick of Running Springs, CA and stepson Dick Delp of Lakewood. , Colorado. Grandchildren Jim Reynolds and husband Malissa, Becky Riley and fiancé Dave Heath, Megan Taggart and husband Ron, Maddie Irwin and Lisa Robinson, Kari Jo Breyer and husband Leith, Kelly Jean Rodda and husband JR, Sylvia Fedderson (Kelman) and Billy Federson. Great-grandchildren Nicole, Destiny, Melody, Dakota, Elijah, Shiloh, Curtis, Jacob, Rachel and Lance. Great-grandchildren Niomi, Brooklyn, Alora, Layton, Spencer, Leo, Carter and Jesse, as well as many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband Jim, parents Nels and Pearl, siblings Helen and Janet and stepdaughter Stephanie.

Services for Thelma will be held on Saturday, April 20, 2024 at 11:00 a.m. at East Line Street Cemetery, Tallman Pavilion at the Tri County Fairgrounds with a luncheon to follow.

We would like to express our sincere thanks to Evelyn, Noel and Amy for their support and care of Thelma over the last 10 years.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the VFW Auxiliary 8988 or the Law Museum..
