A 10-year-old girl who died in a horror house fire in Bradford has been taken to hospital along with her 37-year-old mother and three siblings.

A schoolgirl who tragically died in a house fire that injured her three sisters and mother has been named locally as Eliza.

A 10-year-old boy was found dead Bradford home early this morning after crews raced to put out the inferno.

They battled the flames and took his two sisters, aged six and 11, and his three-year-old brother to hospital.

Heartbroken locals named the ‘happy, smiling’ girl Eliza – with flowers left at the police cordon outside the house. West Yorks.

One resident said: “My daughter used to play with it in the back garden.

“She played with him a few days ago on the slide they have in their garden. “My daughter is very sad to lose her friend.”

Another said: “My daughter is very upset. I saw the mother being taken out of the building, she couldn’t get out on her own.

“I only saw flames in the girls’ bedroom. It’s devastating.”

Eliza’s mother, 37, was also sent to the hospital, but her father, a teacher, was not at home at the time.

The fire is not being treated as suspicious and the young girl’s death has been described as an “absolutely tragic incident”.

The flames appeared to be concentrated in the upstairs front bedroom, where Elisa slept, according to neighbors.

The paint around the windows on the upper floors looked black from the fire and smoke.

Police and investigators can be seen circling the property, and West Yorkshire Police have confirmed they are investigating the fire.

Detective Chief Inspector Zaheer Abbas, of Bradford District Police, said: “This is a very tragic incident that has taken the life of a young boy and our thoughts are with his family at this time.

“Our investigation with the fire service revealed that the fire was not suspicious.

“The family are being supported by specially trained officers and a file will now be prepared for the coroner in time.”

The force added: “Police were called at 1.08am today by the fire service to reports of a serious fire at a house in Kingsdale Drive, Bradford.

“The woman and three children escaped from the house and were taken to the hospital for treatment. Their injuries are not life-threatening.

“A fourth child was found inside the address and unfortunately died at the scene.

“We are currently on scene at the address and police are working with firefighters to establish the exact cause of the fire.”

West Yorkshire Fire Service said: “We were called to Kingsdale Drive in Bradford at 01.05 this morning to reports of a house fire.

“We sent three crews, two from Bradford and one from Shipley.

“On arrival, crews used two hose reels and four breathing apparatus. Unfortunately, a person died in the building.

“Fire investigators are working with colleagues from West Yorkshire Police to establish the situation.”
